Worms Collection 1: Worms Blast

The third and final game on the Worms Collection 1 is Worms Blast. A 32Bit puzzle game released in 2002 and developed by Team 17. (I hope this wont be the last time I write this Teams name.)

A complete change from the last two games on the cart, this puzzle game feels and looks much closer to the awesome Bust A Move series of games. However, if you try to play it like that series you wont get very far as there is much more to this title.

This game has a decent selection of modes including Tournament, which is more like a set of minigames; and puzzle, which is the main thrust of the game. Multiplayer is locked out on the handheld but will be functional with the VS. In the meantime there is a decent enough VS mode against the CPU to keep you busy.

As said above the main attraction of this game is puzzle mode. It sets you on a map where you can choose which route you would like to take, changing the types of challenges you will face. These challenges range from simple fun, slightly tricky, to devilishly evil or a little bit boring. Some do take a fair few times before you brain clicks and you can finally work your way through.

Final Thoughts
An enjoyable little puzzler and nice change of pace after the last two titles in this set. It can take a bit of getting used to the way the game works and the slightly fiddly controls, but there is an extensive tutorial to help you learn the ropes. If you do find yourself enjoying this title, there is enough to keep you coming back time and time again. Plus there's that Multiplayer option itching to played when the VS is finally released.
