Worms Collection 1: Worms Armageddon

The second game on the Worms Collection 1 cart is Worms Armageddon. A 32Bit turn based strategy game released in 1999 and developed by Team 17. (wouldn't it be great if in the future I get to write Alien Breed , released in 1991 and developed by Team 17! )

At it's base, this is exactly the same game as worms. The difference is the game has evolved, looks infinitely better with larger sprites on screen and easier to understand icons and layouts.

What really sets itself ahead of the original is the solo game options, as there is an absolute wealth of training, missions and death matches to plough through. Add to that an absolutely stellar multiplayer half and you have a fantastic complete package in your hands.

Check out the video to watch me take on a deathmatch (but do I win?) and try my hand at a few of the mini games:

Final Thoughts
This was the first time playing this version of worms, I had only really played the originals on the Amiga way back when, so this was a huge surprise. This type of game never really ages and with all the solo and multiplayer options you cannot go wrong. When the VS releases in a couple of months this game will really come in to its own. Highly recommended.
