Indie Heroes Collection 1: Deadeus

The fourth game on Indie Heroes Collection 1 has blown me away.  An 8Bit horror game developed by Izma and released in 2019. My love for Deadeus was almost instantaneous! The game boy style, the 3 day cycle mechanics, depth of story, and perfectly balanced atmosphere all come together to form a beauty of a game. I will be surprised if anything I play after on this cart will impress me as much as this absolute gem.

The game asks a simple question Heathers would be proud of: You have 3 days before the end of the world, what are you going to do about it?

If you are wondering, there are 11 endings to this game so in the end there is plenty much you can do about it!

I found each playthrough informed the next. Small details I learned I could then try on the next run - something I'd learnt on day three, I could retry a day or two earlier which would result in brand new conversations and information for yet another playthrough. This is how I managed to unlock the first 7 endings.

The story is short enough that multiple runs through the game are a joy, with each showing something I had not seen before including new locations and new views on the story itself.

Here is a video of me exploring the village on day one. I've purposely avoided certain places and actions as they would be learnt from a previous playthrough and I do not want to give too much away:

Final Thoughts
This is by far the best game I've played on the Indie Heroes Collection 1 so far. I absolutely adore it! A creepy and enjoyable multi-play adventure that continues to surprise and engage long after the first completion. Do not skip this title!
