Evercade Thoughts: The VS and full 2021 line-up

We now have the full line up for Evercade in 2021 as you can see from the image above they recently posted on Twitter. There's a lot to take in and think about, so lets go through it all one exciting piece at a time...

The Jaleco Collection 1 and Piko Collection 2 have already been released. I really enjoyed the first Piko Collection (finally posting about that next week) but I know this pack is very sports heavy, which has put some people off. None the less I am looking forward to trying it out.

In July we have the release of the Indie Heroes Collection 1 and Worms Collection 1. I will admit seeing worms makes me think of Team 17, and Team 17 makes me think of the Alien Breed series and Project X. sigh... one day... hopefully... I will continue to wish and plead!

In August we have the Codemasters Collection 1 and Mega Cat Studios Collection 2. I am most excited about the Codemasters set as it has a fantastic list of games including Sensible Soccer and Cannon Fodder - and as we all know, wars never been so much fun!

Evercade Cartridge 21: Intellivision Collection 1 - released September
I will admit I have never owned or had a chance to play on a Intellivision so I am really interested in this set.

Games in the collection:
Astrosmash
Buzz Bombers
Frog Bog
Night Stalker
Pinball
Princess Quest
Shark Shark!
Slap Shot: Super Pro Hockey
Snafu
Thin Ice
Thunder Castle
Word Rockets

Evercade Cartridge 22: Bitmap Brothers Collection 1- released September
If you had looked at my previous thoughts on Evercade post I did a little while ago you will know one of my dream cartridge collections was Bitmap Brothers. Okay so not all the games are included here, but the important thing to remember is that the number 1 after the word collection, implies at least a collection 2. We have Chaos Engine regardless, so I am a very happy camper.

The 6 Games included in the collection:
The Chaos Engine
Speedball
Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe
Speedball 2100
Xenon 2: Megablaster

Evercade VS - November
Wow what I can I say about this beauty! A fair bit it seems. When the words VS appeared earlier in the year there was a lot of speculation over what it might be. Some thought it was only a link cable so we could play two player. But I think most were wishing for a home console edition - and thankfully that is what we got. However the VS has ended up being a far more impressive beast then we had hoped. You can see looking at the picture above how glorious the beastie looks. The controllers as well are fantastically retro in design (note: they also have R and L 2 buttons as well). I think one of the things I love about it the most is it can take two cartridges at once. Yes, its a bit of a novelty, but a clever little touch none the less. The VS is definitely all about the little touches.

Here is a full list of features:
2 cartridges simultaneously
Support for up to 4 players
Gorgeous retro designed VS game controllers
Also compatible with other 3rd party USB game controllers
Full support for all existing and upcoming cartridges
Over 260 available games to play at launch
Native 1080p Full HD resolution
Quad 1.5 Ghz processor
Brand new user interface

Until next time my friends, be seeing you x
