Episode Three
Note: Episode three was created from edited scenes of the fourth chapter of Final Fantasy VII Remake

Thoughts on Final Fantasy VII
Such a great episode. Not only is it a lot of fun but it is also brand new content for fans of the original. The best part of it was getting to spend more time with the Avalanche Trio. Though no doubt many have fallen for the delightful Jessie, as she is such a joy to be around, I must admit having an incredibly huge soft spot for wedge and his belly.

The story kicks off with a thrilling bike section, which brings back great memories not only of the bike mini game from the original, but the spectacular sequence in the Advent Children movie too. Check out this bonus video of the Advent Children Trailer showcasing some of the bike sequence. (Also note the beyond edible remix of the Jenova Theme playing throughout - my favourite version of that piece of music.)

It's here where we meet the electric Roche for the first time, a member of soldier and a brand new character to the FFVII universe. Yep I'm loving him already, but I want more.

I loved the scene at Jessie's house with Cloud sneaking in the back while the three kept Jessie's mum busy. It was fun until Cloud entered the bedroom and was confronted with Jessie's father, lying very ill in bed. It was a touching moment and made everything became clear. It was too hard for Jessie to see her father laying there while she attempted to steal his pass. We also learnt that her father's accident at one the Mako reactor's was the main reason she joined Avalanche to begin with.

What's interesting is this whole mission was born from Jessie's wrong belief that her bomb caused all that destruction at the Mako reactor and Sector 1, when it was Shinra themselves who did most of the damage.

Though Tifa is not on the mission she is not forgotten, not by Cloud at least. We are treated to a lovely touching moment from their youth where Cloud made the promise to come back and help. It's great to get little glimpses of the world outside Midgar and I cannot wait to actually walk around Cloud's home town, hopefully in the next instalment in one way or another.

What follows is an epic fight between Cloud and a multitude of Shinra forces, climaxing in a one on one confrontation with the scene stealing Roche. This man is so much fun, completely over the top and just the right side of annoying. I really can't wait to see more as the series continues.

Being a pretty insane episode anyway, the team end it by parachuting off the side of the plate, and why the hell not. I'd do anything with these three, I could have spent the rest of the game just having fun with them. When they were all checking out poor Wedgies bare bum was obviously a highlight, even Cloud found it funny - not an easy task.

Overall I loved this episode, getting more background on Jessie and the crew is always a bonus. The only problem is the more they give, the more I want.

Final Fantasy 101

Roche - Soldier 3rd Class
Roche is a brand new character created for the remake and therefore not much is known about him at this time. We know he is a SOLDIER 3rd Class and he likes to call himself the Speed Demon. Cloud and Co only encounter Roche twice (both times in this episode) and he is never seen of again, though, he promises to see Cloud out on the Road.

Roche is an interesting character, though a member of Shinra, he doesn't seem to be on anyone's side but his own. He fought Cloud but took out many of Clouds enemies to aid in Avalanche's escape. He seems more interested in the thrill of facing someone worthy of his own skills, and he's certainly found that in Cloud.

Sector 7 Employee Housing Area
A civilian district located atop the Sector 7 plate. A Shinra distribution depot is also located near the residential area, which stores mako reactor parts, artillery, and ammunition, amongst other industrial materials. - Taken from FFVII Remake loading screen

Jessie's parent's live on the Sector 7 plate directly above the slums Jessie now resides in. This was a detail we did not know in the original, unless I'm forgetting. Jessie's Dad's tale is a sad one, it makes sense it would drive Jessie to hate Shinra and join Avalanche.

Music Player: Lay Down Some Rubber
This weeks music, though only a sample is from the excellent Bike Sequence. I really do love the opening build up to the track. Enjoy.

Next Week
It's time for Avalanche's toughest mission yet, to blow up Mako Reactor 5. As is always the case for our band of friends, nothing ever runs smoothly.

One last thing to mention before I go - Cats!
Square Enix love Cats in FFVII Remake, and I love them all the more for it!

Until next time, be seeing you x x
